It's garter stitch week on #ShowMeYourKnits so here's my depression shawl. I don't knit a lot of garter stitch, but sometimes depression hits, and the only* way out is the knit stitch, over and over and over.

*YMMV. Medication and talking therapy are also excellent.

So... I might apply to "The Queer Love Project"s open call for creative nonfiction submissions. I think I have a story to tell that's unusual but hopefully uplifting. Time's ticking but I think I can get it done by Feb 14!

Went to a social club and laughed so hard I couldn't stop beaming. Got a volunteering position at my favorite library. Learned to cook. Ahead in my classes. Pursuing hobbies. Can life get any better than this??

Mary Oliver's "A Poetry Handbook" is fantastic, BTW. It's short and sweet and very delightful to read, with a good sample of supporting poems. I ordered a used copy of a *giant* poetry encyclopedia (Princeton 4th edition) afterwards to get deeper into the topic!
Let it be known that the library is my favorite place on earth. I always have too many items checked out, lol. Here’s today’s in-library reading: two books of #poetry !

I had quite the adventure today exploring downtown #Atlanta - I saw cool parts of the city I had never known before. Now I‘m lounging in Starbucks after an hour of walking with today’s read: Meander, Spiral, Explode by Jane Alison! Seems to be a promising exploration of #writing unusual plot arcs.

A Reclamation prospecting rig searching for riches beneath the Valley of Two-Sky River.

Wild bluestick grows in this area; one of the few surviving populations known to anyone.

For the Birrin project.

In other news, I've been questioning my gender YET AGAIN. Fifth time in a lifetime. I got the "dummy's guide to gender transition" with my Christmas gift card just in case. It's not a commitment, but maybe I'll figure out more via reading.

I always have so many ideas for what career path I could pursue, it's dizzying. I like coding, so I could be a comp sci major! Or English, GIS, anthropology, web design, deaf studies, classics teaching, et cetera et cetera. Not like I have to decide anytime soon, but eventually I'll need to pick.

I can't believe how insanely hard it is to get rid of AI overview in searches. Why isn't there a simple toggle to turn it off?? I ended up just switching to DuckDuckGo - even though they also have AI features, at least I can disable them.

*sigh* I miss the internet before AI...

I know I'm a bit late to start, but I'm going to try the "Chicken House Children’s Fiction Competition."

Middle Grade and YA fiction were life-changing for me as a kid, so naturally I always dreamed of my own children's novel. 83 days to a novel manuscript? Might as well!

A few times while reading a book, I gotta pause and write down whatever crazy random idea it inspired in me. Now my notes are full of remarks like "vampire vs zombies" and "fantasy world that's just a really tall cliff"... when I was reading sci-fi XP

In other news, I've finally been diagnosed with chronic migraines. Yay for treatment! Not-so-"yay" that one of my new prescriptions costs over *800 dollars* and isn't covered by insurance, apparently... #chronicpain #spoonie

My yearly goal is to read 2 (or more!) library #books a month. I'm a collegiate with little space and not much in money, so my local #library is a godsend!

Starting January strong with #sci-fi: 'Dawn' and 'Mickey 7' by Octavia Butler and Edward Ashton, respectively!
