The last known picture of lan Curtis.
Taken at his local Woolworths photobooth May 1980 in his hometown of Macclesfield for his visa application to the USA for the tour that never happened. #iancurtis #joydivision

First week of Dec, ‘88 Danny & I drove across America. It was the end of 6 months in California giving Bluetrain USA a go. We bought two cassettes from a shop in Little Rock. Tracy Chapman and U2. They were pretty much all we listened to.

1st December 1990 The Buzz Club The Moonflowers
Crazy band from Bristol who nearly set the venue on fire with their insane stage antics! They had just released the brilliant ‘Get Higher’ on Heavenly Records. Credit to the Nation were first on.

Playing bass for one of the few solo gigs I did when my ‘Ghost Tapes 1 to 9’ album came out last year. This was at a brewery in Sussex.
Hear the album, which got 8/10 in Uncut -

A very young Johnny Marr, backstage at Reading University 22.2.1984 and a couple of live shots of The Smiths that night. Taken by my pal Guy Van Steene. There are lots of great photos on my site.

I’ve posted some of my favourite 7” single sleeves. Each one, a lovely memory. I bought Orange Juice ‘L.O.V.E.’ from a shop in Edinburgh can’t remember its name. There was a hand written sign above it that said ‘so sad they’ve signed to a major’

The War on Drugs were the last band I booked for Green Man 2008. 'Wagonwheel Blues' had just been released, Kurt Vile was still in the band. I paid £250. Their agent had sent me the album which I thought was terrific and so gladly added them to the line up! #thewarondrugsband

Stuart Bailie’s fabulous new book ‘The Song Is Nearly Over’ has just been released. I’ve known Stuart since he wrote about Go! Service in 1985 for Record Mirror! We’ve kept in touch over the years.

1989 incredible year, not least because of the Stone Roses. I made a playlist to go with my 1989 chapter. Along with the Roses, The Sundays, De La Soul, James, The Sugarcubes, New Order, Primal Scream, The Beloved, Boys Own parties & more - enjoy!

The Stone Roses 'I Wanna Be Adored' on Snub TV 1989. This was shown the week we had them on at the Buzz Club, that a half page live review in the NME & 'Made of Stone' Single of the Week in the Melody Maker ensured we had a great crowd to see them!
