I guess the one thing in my mind is that I don’t actually know if Bednar is a really good coach. The Athletic published their players poll for the season and when asked what coach would you want to play for, Bednar received just one vote. That was pretty eye opening to see

Jon Cooper leads with 23.58%, followed by Paul Maurice and “Other” tied at 13.21%. Rod Brind’Amour (8.49%), Craig Berube (7.55%), and Jim Montgomery (7.55%) follow. The chart includes many other NHL coaches with smaller percentages and a note listing additional coaches who received 0.94% each. Survey was conducted from Dec. 20, 2024, to Feb. 2, 2025.
