First half or so was a fascinating account of education just before printed books made their mark - particularly given speculation we may be entering a post-literate age. Later on covers more familiar territory of the King's "great matter" and More's preparations for death.

An enjoyable and informative read, it wears its “textbook” origins lightly and often is the better for them. On the whole well written and straightforward.

This year’s #Advent book. I don’t read much poetry (something wrong with my brain), but I enjoy Herbert and I like the poem plus explanation format of these books (helps deal with defective brain).
