Pretty extraordinary hearing from people trying to sell automated translation products to healthcare who don't know their word error rate.

I had a play around with OpenAI's whisper. It's super fun but the word error rate is as high as 50%! Using something like that for consent is insane.

2025 and for all the talk about human factors there's still major medical companies (draeger in this case) doing stuff like having a red light indicate nominal function.

Getting an important lesson in keeping up with descaling as per the manufacturer.

I enjoy reading these two documents a lot but never like giant pdfs so decided to get them printed off and bound to make it easier to flick through.

In my ongoing saga to retrofit an old hed trispoke with a track axle I decided to see how easy it would be to just get a new pair of axle bearing spacers made up.

About 15 minutes of CAD and then uploaded to JLCPCB. £37* delivered for 2 bespoke parts. Incredible.

I've been thinking about buying a butterfly probe recently but their decision to remotely brick old hardware means it's now never going to happen.

Honestly one of the best nights of my life.

I've spent a solid half hour this morning watching replays of those rice free kicks.

Not as crispy as I'd have liked but tier 1 roast potatoes, par boiled in chicken stock with the lamb on a rack above when roasting.

The older Chablis was perfect. Red meat doesn't always mean red wine.

Massive amount of work to get to this point but this is a GP record appearing as a care everywhere endpoint in Epic.

Rolling out this year, any patient who hasn't opted out of GP connect will have easy reconciliation of problems, medications and allergies between primary care and Epic.

Only just unboxed it but these Ali express mini cheetah knockoffs seem insanely well made for the money.

5NM of torque in the palm of your hand.

(I'll be hooking it up to some coffee burrs)

Always love coming to use the fellows room at @rcoanews.bsky.social. Super handy when wanting to join calls when out the house or just a change or scenery when doing admin.

Also has anyone ever seen that land rover move?

2024 will go down as one of the worst years of my life but at least I got to see it out with one of the few highlights, discovering Ducan Savage

Spent part of the afternoon sheltering from the cold and making this with my 3yo. Pretty pleased for a spur of the moment project.

Minor point in the grand scheme of the wider debate about midlevels but interesting to see the MPTS website has already been updated to state which profession someone belongs to

A wine as old as me. Definitely past it's best but still exceptional.

Busy when the live stream is happening so I did my tasting for the decaf project early.

Natural carbonic wasn't great. Both the Swiss water and Ethyl Acetate both were very good but definitely lost something compared to the baseline.

Would happily have either, think the Ethyl edged it though.
