The more time I’ve spent in the profession, the more I’ve seen, the clearer this has become. It’s rampant. And serves to protect all the hierarchies you’d expect.

She actually was able to recover from it after a whole lot of effort, alternative therapies, etc. She can now eat small amounts of red meat again without getting a reaction. But her case was never severe — no anaphylaxis, just skin rash.

And I grew up in a town where everyone knew pretty much everyone, so you’d think social shame would have kept people in check.
