Here is a photo of Director Joe Pevney on the set of The Immunity Syndrome. He directed several of the best TOS episodes, including City on the Edge of Forever, Amok Time, and The Trouble with Tribbles. #TOSSatNight

Spock has a good role in this episode, much better than in The Galileo Seven. #TOSSatNight

The original visual effects for the space amoeba were quite striking. I prefer them to the remastered effects. #TOSSatNight

Grindstaff’s sound design for TOS is so good. It sounds organic. Much better than later series in the franchise, where sounds are more like synthesizers. No wonder he won so many awards. #TOSSatNight

Have never felt totally comfortable with the idea of an all Vulcan-crewed starship, given the number of times the human qualities have come to the rescue of the Enterprise. #TOSSatNight

Question: But the president’s statements that he believed the election was rife with fraud—those are statements protected by the First Amendment, correct?

Smith: Absolutely not. If they are made to target a lawful government function and are made with knowing falsity, then no, they are not.

“I didn’t expect to be so moved when I stood in front of this” is exactly how I felt when I stood in front of this 3,400 year old bust of Nefertiti last year at the Neues Museum in Berlin. It was very emotional. www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/1...

Sol Kaplan wrote an incredible score for this episode. The Doomsday Machine theme is similar to but predates John William’s theme for Jaws. It is haunting and powerful #TOSSatNight

Spinrad: “I had a different vision in mind of what the Doomsday Machine would look like, and so did Gene. It was just a matter of running out of budget. As far as the story went, I wasn’t displeased with the way the thing came out. I wasn’t unhappy with it at all.” #TOSSatNight
