Important: “Hegseth was never a Boy Scout” - This NPR story

He’s got no idea what scouting is about.

The NPR story on this was really good, highlighting how effective Scouting has been at boosting recruitment. “As many as 20 percent of cadets and midshipmen at the service academies are Eagle Scouts” - kind of a big deal for maintaining recruit quality.

Documents show the U.S. military is planning to sever all ties with the organization formerly known as the Boy Scouts.

So “DeepFakeQuote” is supposed to be a legitimate source for policy now?

Also… when are we going to get the long-planned Tubman $20 bills? The home-modified type isn’t universally accepted, so we need the real thing.

Why would anyone seriously consider a public health care plan developed by the person who committed the largest Medicare fraud in history (at that time)?

According to their “unitary executive” framework, aren’t ALL president’s orders legal?

It certainly lives up to his fantasy of shooting someone on 5th avenue and getting away with it

Institutional knowledge is incredibly vital! So vital and under the radar that it’s usually undervalued. Does anyone have the time and resources to document institutional knowledge so LLMs could understand it? For just one institution/building/room? No.

Oh. I didn’t read up on the details. This is that Trump Gaza plan he had with that horrible video?

Fundraiser at a polling place? Who’s the organization and what are they raising funds for?

Sounds like a great opportunity for building community and getting out the vote 🗳️

Headline needs to be, “Chicago woman demands justice after ICE officers collided with her car and assaulted her”
November 4, 2025 at 1:52 AM
Oh no! I started following Teen Vogue years ago when my kids were little, and I was really impressed with them! Their political reporting was solid and substantive - just what good “citizens” need. I hope this doesn’t affect their age-appropriate fact-based coverage of sexuality and mental health.

How did that happen? I’ve got a bunch of SampleCases and used to have a BACS and never encountered it.

lol. The Star Trek enterprise needs to spend LESS on effects and more on writing and acting so they can deliver new seasons of the newer shows that have more than 10 episodes. Star Trek is fantastic because of the writing and other human elements.

Jesse Jackson’s “The Question is Moot” SNL sketch was both hilarious and hard-hitting against the Reagan platform. What a potent speaker!

Around Chicagoland (at least) it’s become pretty automatic for competitor candidates to try booting people off the ballot via signature challenges. I’m pretty sure it’s mostly a Republican practice. Probably because they can’t compete on the basis of ideas.

Fantastic!

I’m sure you’d get on well with Truman College Prof. Charles Abrams, who’s been using paper folding to teach biomolecular structure for years.
