I think in addition to anti-Catholic sentiment the schism continuing to gain speed within American Catholicism is also relevant here.

The Times identified 120+ instances in which guards were described as having punched, kicked or stomped on inmates, smashed their fingers in cell doors, held their legs apart and struck their genitals with batons, and even waterboarded them — all while they were handcuffed or otherwise restrained.

Honestly DOC feels a little bit like an outlier but then I think about the less prog parishes of the rest and it fits.

I’d like to see that on a map, I suspect their are significant regional variations in the distribution of those gender ratios that make them more severe in some regions as well.

On the flip side I hate it when professors teaching 18-26 year olds call them “kids”
