I've been wondering why bsky folks didn't use SOLID PODS as the basis for PDSs, like my bsky data is in a PODS wallet.

Access control is already there. I must be missing something.

SQL is a big part of my job, and I generally like it, but pyspark on a datalake is a better experience.

This. Also, DBAs add indexes & such. The idea of a declarative language is that the main users are analysts.

And you can put an index on a temp table.

Not a stupid question. The answer is very "depends".

Nice little article: www.theanalysisfactor.com/outliers-to-...
Outliers: To Drop or Not to Drop
Should you drop outliers? You'll certainly see this simple advice. But context matters. Let's explore when to drop outliers and when not to.

Did Chet Hanks write that?

A huge improvement, but it doesn't go far enough. Car tires pollute the air and make noise at higher speeds. Roads with constant traffic harm animals more than trains do. Sprawl is expensive.

I don't understand why she has no legal recourse. It's clearly stolen. Is AI a laundromat?

When people lose real money via cryptocurrency scams, they use the legal system to recover damages.

The blatant IP theft is another example of this: www.currentaffairs.org/news/2019/02...
If Property Rights Were Real, Climate-Destroying Companies Would Be Sued Out Of Existence
It’s simple: companies must pay for the harm they do to others…

If the job is to plan for the future, then maybe someone who expects to live long enough to experience some of the consequences should have it.

Huh, I thought it was more of a Sun Tsu "golden bridge" thing.

Like, they shouldn't have a path back to leadership or privilege, but maybe a path to an end-state that's acceptable enough to all parties to diffuse tension.

Not always applicable. But backing them into a corner can be dangerous.

What I was just told is that the wild ravens pass food to the captive ones in the summertime, and the captive ravens share food with the wild ones in the winter.

There are some ravens that can't be rehabilitated enough to be released back into the wild, so they live in large cages that are exposed to the elements.

They've made friends with the local wild ravens. We've seen them chatting before. It's delightful.

His cadence didn't sound slow to me. A lot of filler words, sure, but his pronunciation was in a normal range of speed.

If you want to call him dumb for this, there's the obvious matter of him bragging about outsourcing witty banter to a toaster.

Sometimes I start by mocking something up without fully understanding the problem, and that helps me to learn about the problem space. But I'm being pedantic and that counts as hard-won understanding.

Our transportation system shares some culpability. It requires everyone to be in a sober and rational state of mind to get anywhere.

Bars close after public transportation stops running. Bars exist where public transportation doesn't.

Just get fired or dumped? Time to not be distracted!

The left is absolutely infiltrated. It's naïve to think otherwise.

You haven't noticed in every major election, there are a bunch of "leftists" popping up telling everyone to not vote, or to waste their vote on a 3rd party?

It's why I made a list to track the anonymous political influencers.
