If it never gets above melting point as here (north Surrey woods today), it’s fine to cycle on compacted snow (un-compacted it bungs up your mudguards). If it’s always above melting point, as per salt application, ditto. Oscillate between the two & the fun begins.

All the initiatives over the past decade, the most notable being Op Snap & similar, and the Highway Code revision, have had zero effect on how people drive past those cycling round here.

About 6½ riders/km, a decent showing, though a disappointing 22½% female participation (picked the wrong week, it’s usually 35%-ish).
