If you actually get responses from those patrons, with detailed information about their art, you had better send a note of thank you, at the very least. The. Very. Least.

If you build a mailing list, and send a request to your patrons asking them to send you information about what kind of art is in their homes (artists, type of art, etc.), you’re bordering on elitist at best, and intrusive at worst.
