So many awesome things about Auckland! The dual T-Rex in a museum entrance. The public restrooms. The gams on the Hoa in the museum exhibit. This tree branch over a sidewalk that is so low even a Hobbit would need to duck to get under it.

Take the train to Oulu. Pretty good change of seeing the Aurora there and it's also a neat city.

An analogy I think about is the flow of a river. You can take a jet boat downstream, you can take a boat with a trolling motor downstream, you can casually paddle downstream. But even if you do nothing, you're still going downstream unless you're actively paddling against the current.

I'm not friends with any extreme racists or overt racists to the best of my knowledge. I go out of my way to avoid being friends with casual racists. But unfortunately I probably still am friends with folks who support systemic racism because I still have friends who are white.

As a white man, I don't feel most white folks understand how racist they are. Too many think overt racism is the only sort, which is far from true. But the systemic nature of it all relies on white folks being able to think "I'm not friends with some Klan members" & think they aren't racist.
