Horses nowadays are largely a hobby thing (horseriding and racing etc.) and very expensive so i would imagine their prevalence in the US might be mirrored in other developed countries but globally i would expect them to be in even greater decline

Mm in the US it looks like horses peaked around 1915 at 20 million horses, we’ve got about 7 million horses nowadays. Looks like the horse was largely used for labor and has been replaced my machinery. Not sure what this looks like in the rest of the world

I would says horses are down on a per capita basis but the population boom since the second world war means raw horse numbers have been up
