I agree that Blair's actual main strength was a deep interest in the future.
He remains future focussed and is willing to look stupid doing so. That's the cost of dreaming.

I think more complicated than that. He's clearly very skilled, but his skills are not solving the problem. What is the point of being managerial class is you can't manage the situation.
