I do think some criticisms I've read have been unfair though, and predicated entirely on reading the rules/second-hand info and not having played it. I think those that don't like it just don't like the genre, because this is one of the finer examples, and not being a campaign game is a benefit.

Both, but in this instance it would be Arkham Horror 3rd edition for group play. I really enjoy the LCG but haven't really found anyone excited by it so tend to play solo but multi-handed...

I think my problem with it is:

I'm becoming a lot more realistic about the size of my collection and how much table time each game will get; I'm worried this will get overlooked for Arkham Horror every time - although the setting is a good thing for when Mythos apathy sets in...

I wanted to play one more time again without the expansion but next time definitely - being able to travel from one side to the other without crossing the entire map is a vital change I think.

We've managed to get four people together for a small league in 2026 - we're hoping that getting started will encourage others to join. Whatever the case, next year will still be at least 3 more planned irl games than I've had in the last 30!

Me too. Down the front you can see piles of metal miniatures, that's my OG Dark Elf and Undead teams (and an Amazon I forgot I had!) I had to sell a lot of my 3rd edition collection over the years, wish I hadn't but probably needed the money at the time and the prices were... Silly.
