Also feels like a lot of people are missing the fact that while $135K is ok if you can keep making that consistently, you also live with the fact that one layoff means you are totally fucked.

I see people complaining about not being able to afford rent close to work, not being able to afford medical insurance, not being able to afford quality day care, not being able to afford groceries. That seems like most of the conversation to me, that 'necessities' have skyrocketed.
