That song is my favourite Kate Bush song - I knew it from the album it's on - and it was only later that I found out she'd written it for a John Hughes movie. It means rather a lot to me. The video for it is pretty good too.

I would strongly second Diana Wynne Jones. Homeward Bounders is one of my favourite books, and the Chrestomanci book (starting with Charmed life) are great fun.

So many of us learned programming through listings in the computer magazines. I wrote my first BASIC program on paper, as I hadn't saved up enough to buy the BBC Micro I wanted. I don't think I'd touched a computer at that point, this was even before my school opened a computer room. (I am old.)
