Your Friendly Neighborhood Physics Professor. Condensed Matter Experimentalist and author of THE PHYSICS OF SUPERHEROES, THE AMAZING STORY OF QUANTUM MECHANICS and THE PHYSICS OF EVERYDAY THINGS.
Thanks! HE PHYSICS OF SUPERHEROES GOES HOLLYWOOD discusses in a simple, math-free way, the real physics underlying the Multiverse, Quantum Physics, A.I., Sandpiles, Nanotechnology, and how to reverse time by flying around the Earth at superspeed. They couldn't put it in a movie if it wasn't true!

That's right, folks! I knew him when! (even then, he wouldn't wear a tie to a town hall meeting!)

The green line has a lifetime of less than a second.
For people who use vacuum chambers, it was not until the 1920s that they were able to produce a good enough vacuum in the lab to be able to identify that red line." 2/2

Not only are the faculty sharing their aurora photos - but the explanations of what we saw!

"The reason that the red line is seen at high altitudes is that it has a long lifetime (the order of 100 s), so it is collisionally de-excited at low altitudes where the atmosphere is more dense. 1/2

But Joseph, you did travel in time! You see... oh, you mean backwards in time.

At the St. Louis Park, MN rally, where there are > 1000 Americans. And two T-Rexs, a Portland Frog, a Tweety Bird, a squirrel and raccoon. And #CaptainAmerica. I had to ask:

me: What would Captain America do?
Cap: He would hold the line.
me: And he'd say - no, you move!

Sorry @gailsimone.bsky.social , there wasn't enough space in my new book THE PHYSICS OF SUPERHEROES GOES HOLLYWOOD to discuss Cyclops' heat vision or Superman's force beams. Maybe in the sequel?🤔

Both physics profs who consult for superhero movies and writers of superhero comic books who know their physics enjoy my new book THE PHYSICS OF SUPERHEROES GOES HOLLYWOOD. Bringing people together - it's what I do!😉

My book launch last night at the fantastic Magers & Quinn went great last night. Full house and they even laughed at (some) of the jokes. My new book covers a broad range of physics - from the very big (as in the universe) to the very small (the Higgs boson) and the human scale where we all live.

Well, people are free to debate the question, but it has been definitively answered by Science! (Indestructible Hulk # 10)

After reading Paul Halpern's book on the Multiverse, see how the concept is used in superhero movies. True to its name - there are different types of Multiverses!

One week to go. An all-new exploration of General Relativity and time travel, the Higgs Boson, A.I., why your footprints look dry on the sandy shoreline, active matter, and how LEDs work. Or as computer scientist, author, and current writer of the Fantastic Four, @ryannorth.ca says:

Just like the X-Men, my new book is All-New and All-Different. And @gailsimone.bsky.social knows her X-Men!

Couldn't agree more. What's that you say - time for a shameless plug?

Case in point - the mechanics of Puffer Fish have nothing to do with this JLA story! But Julie Schwartz' "Editors Note" or "Flash Facts" were the early forerunners of hyperlinks.
