The local buses are grand but can get crowded.
All buses on Santorini run to/from the main bus station in the capital, Fira, so depending on where you are staying you might need to go there & change. The museum is a short walk from the bus station.

Half a day is fine. There's a walkway all round, with excellent information boards at designated stopping places, though you can stop anywhere you want. You mainly look down onto the site, but there is access down into the wonderfully named (in English!) Triangle Square outside the West House too.

The museums don't get especially busy. The Museum of Prehistoric Thera is superb, with many of the Akrotiri frescoes on display in the basement.
This year the old Archaeological Museum was devoted to (most of) the wonderful Kikladitisses exhibition, but I don't think that can be permanent.

The key thing for visiting Akrotiri is to avoid the coach parties from the cruise ships. You can check how many ships are in port at sites like www.santorini.net/information/... . We found this summer that there was a sweet spot at around 10:30, when the first wave had left & the 2nd hadn't arrived

Here's a marvellous graffiti homage to Durer that I spotted in Athens last year...

When you layer-up, don’t forget your feet! An extra pair of socks really helps. I have a pair of silk socks - that I was given as a present - that really add warmth without being too bulky

Here’s my fridge magnet - he seems to be closely modelled on William!

Sorry I can't help at all, but I wanted to thank you for reminding me about my visit to that wonderful museum - so much fantastic Mycenaean stuff to see there.

Well that was better! Clinical finishing from Chief and a brilliant win 😀😀😀

As a Wrexham, Liverpool, and England cricket supporter I can confirm that it’s been a pretty rough week! At least the 🦅 are still winning!

This is a magnificent piece of art. After years of seeing photos of it in every book about Alexander (usually on the cover) I finally took a holiday to Pompeii purely in order to visit MANN & I wasn’t disappointed.

I wonder how liquid the contents were originally? It doesn't look like a very practical shape to hold a thick ointment - surely that neck would make both filling it, and getting the stuff out, pretty difficult?

Have a grand trip! I hope you have time to fit in a visit to Eretria & see the wonderful Lefkandi centaur in the lovely little museum there!

Prehistory & free wine - what more could anyone want??

Ah that's a pity. Thanks for the swift reply & I hope it goes well.

Fascinating topic. I'm sorry but I'll be on a plane - will it be recorded?

Cracking game & (as a Liverpool supporter) you deserved to get something from that. Wonderful team spirit & great fan support

Exactly! I would have loved a bigger one, but I didn't think a larger size would survive in checked baggage, especially as my case is soft-sided.

This is a lovely tiny (9cm tall) replica by Vassilis Politakis - I got it from a souvenir shop just outside the museum in Heraklion.

Very fine - thank you!
