@bontchev Wow, the amount of passive text in that apology is pretty impressive. All that stuff just happened totally by itself without any humans with names directing it! Amazing.

I have a workaround for the old bug (detailed in the blog posting), but there's no workaround for the new one. For the time being I'm sticking with the release before they introduced the bug, but presumably that will eventually stop working, and then I'm fucked: I will no longer be able to use […]

@volts.wtf Nobody knows for certain if it will work, but it sure feels like we're in a "we need to do anything that might work" situation nowadays, so it would be irresponsible for us not to try this.

@volts.wtf The theory is that there's a tipping point beyond which support for Trump will collapse in a classic "slow than fast" way. If his base turns against him, then the GOP in Congress will turn against him as well. We can't know exactly what will trigger the collapse, but since the GOP and […]

@WarnerCrocker Is it just me, or does it seem like they're just trying to get people to wrap their iPhones in neon colors in an easily stealable format, thereby increasing iPhone theft and enabling them to sell more phones?

@heidilifeldman The politician you described sounds absolutely vile.
Mamdani's victory gives me hope that perhaps some folks on the left—especially young folks!—are waking up and kicking to the curb politicians like this guy.

@ai6yr To be clear, the separate Sabbath/holiday disks aren't for kosher reasons, they're because we like to use nice dishes on the Sabbath and holidays.

@ai6yr Yup. We have separate dishes for eating dairy vs meat on (*6* sets, actually: 2x everyday, 2x Sabbath and holidays, 2x Passover). Dishes used for dairy can't be used for meat and vice versa, and dishes used for non-kosher food can't subsequently be kosher.
Some things can be "koshered" […]
