I got a photo of this cardinal perched on a sunflower statue on an icy day. My mom put out birdseed on the porch and while the world is still outside, the birds are having an all day outdoor feast.

When you need a friend like this one . I’m waiting for the universe to give me the space and place.

I can hear the fireworks in the distance. Took a minute to breathe in the new year even in quiet disappointment. Decided to say a prayer to bring in new hope this year. Happy New Year All! ❤️

a soft, bright ache of color
reminding me that even on the days
I am tired of carrying myself,
the world still burns beautifully

It seems silly to say now,

but I have a nice back scratcher.

I bought it when no one was around.

I mention it only because I’m looking at it now

while I hold him in my arms,

and his father dies too

It has a wooden handle, it retracts;

it has a little plastic comb on the end.

Weathered Heart

All I can do is hold you.

All I can do is be here.

All I can do is write this poem.

We just lay here in silence

We can’t go back.
