I can hear the fireworks in the distance. Took a minute to breathe in the new year even in quiet disappointment. Decided to say a prayer to bring in new hope this year. Happy New Year All! ❤️

a soft, bright ache of color
reminding me that even on the days
I am tired of carrying myself,

It seems silly to say now,
but I have a nice back scratcher.
I bought it when no one was around.
I mention it only because I’m looking at it now
while I hold him in my arms,
and his father dies too
It has a wooden handle, it retracts;
it has a little plastic comb on the end.
