#Halloween post: another raw art piece before final painted color from The Witness novella by @jmdematteis.bsky.social — I really like the subtle despair this has. And the painted grays remind of classic old films that dealt with dark events. Nicely matched to the emotions of the book.

A deadness in the eyes. A truer darkness than goblins and ghouls.

Today’s first day of Halloween season is the raw art before final painted color for one of book plates I did for The Witness novella by @jmdematteis.bsky.social — compared to the in-your-face aspect of the previous Spawn image, this has an introspective intimacy with the haunting that we see here.
