Great article. A bit surprised that the USDA under the current administration hasn’t simply changed the definition/qualification of an urban food desert to make them disappear.
@gnrosenberg.bsky.social & I wrote about public grocery stores, Mamdani's most polarizing policy proposal. They are worth trying, but are not a guaranteed food security fix. It is the rest of the affordability agenda that can do more for food insecure New Yorkers.

Car ads with a single vehicle as the only thing on the road — usually set on the coast or mountains — is a longtime part of the automakers’ scam. Rarely do you see any marketing with other vehicles in the road. I believe the last one I saw was a Hyundai ad that focused on “surviving the commute.”
