It took me a long time to figure out her fussing was her equivalent of stroking our backs or holding our hands. Sometimes she would just stop and hold your wrist like she forgot what she was doing 😩

It used to be cotton handkerchiefs, I still have a few of them embroidered ones. But when tissues got cheaper, she switched in case she lost one. We lost her to covid at 89 while she was in a nursing home (it was a good one with strict protocols, but covid found a way in)

If we wore sweaters around her, she would always fuss with the cuffs to make them lie perfectly flat. Even when the dementia set in. She hated that I would always fold up my cardigan cuffs. Even if she wasn't talking to me, unfold them, smooth them out.
