The Independent Union of All Workers is credited by some with the first sitdown strike of the 1930s, at the Hormel plant in Austin MN. Organized by IWW's Frank Ellis, the local eventually joined the CIO's Packinghouse Workers Organizing Committee.

In the US, at least, some men's clothing ads now use "Tops" and "Bottoms" for shirts and pants. Sounds kinda NSFW 😬

And then there's tendency to call one pair of them a "pant".
