Have you ever read Daphne du Maurier's REBECCA and thought, "yes, amazing, but I wish it was even more queer"?

THE NEEDFIRE by @mkhardywrites.com, a sapphic Gothic tale set in 19th century Scotland, is out this July! What better way to celebrate Pride Month than with a preorder?

I read Bat Eater by Kylie Lee Baker yesterday and had to come and talk about it, because if any genre is going to tackle the height of the pandemic and do it well, it's horror.

This has immediately become one of my favourite horror novels, and it's also made me want to talk about escapism. 1/?

It’s said my mother used her last breaths to tell my father I came into the world feet first, as though I was already prepared to run.

Are you looking for poetry to nominate for this year's Hugo Awards? Then please allow me to shamelessly plug "The Saint of Nothing at All" which the lovely folk at @havenspec.bsky.social published last year!

If sad Catholicism is your thing, you might like it 👉👈

Fuming that Disney+ have cancelled #Shardlake. It was so good, the cast were fantastic, and the rest of the books are ripe for TV! Let me have nice things, I'm begging 😭

Not including the books I've been lucky enough to work on this year, these have been my 2024 highlights! 📚

I loved NETTLE AND BONE by @tkingfisher.com so much that I wanted to crawl inside it and live in it. Reading it made me nostalgic for a story I was reading for the first time, and I remain dazzled by Kingfisher's ability to pair whimsy with menace.

I didn't know I needed a literary zombie novella until I read IT LASTS FOREVER AND THEN IT'S OVER by @annedemarcken.bsky.social, which is one of the most beautifully bonkers books I read this year.

I'm supremely fussy when it comes to witch books, but THE INVOCATIONS by Krystal Sutherland really scratched that witch itch for me this year. It's sinister and occasionally spooky, but still so much fun to read.

12 years late to the party, but I finally read THE RAVEN BOYS by @maggiestiefvater.bsky.social in 2024 and fell in love with it—and with Will Patton's excellent narration. I remain grateful that I have access to a library service with such a great audiobook selection!

THE SPACE BETWEEN WORLDS by @micaiahjohnson.bsky.social lives rent-free in my brain. I went into it so hesitantly because I don't typically enjoy multiverse stories, and it became an all-time favourite. I loved it so much that as soon as I finished my library copy, I bought my own for my bookshelf.

I've worked in publishing for almost a decade so I feel like a bit of a fraud promoting my work and not someone else's, but SHADOWS ON THE WATER from Flame Tree Press and featuring my historical horror "Malefactor" is out in the UK tomorrow! 🎉
