If airstrikes “test” a ceasefire, what violates one?
BREAKING: At least 24 people are dead and 54 wounded after Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, testing the ceasefire that began in October, officials say.

Astonishing to stop and realize that, at any given moment, bands of masked men armed to the teeth are storming churches and daycares, terrorizing entire communities—and that most of the country's political establishment barely blinks.

Union busters told us immigrants are a threat to wages.

Neo-Nazis told us student protesters are a threat to Jews.

Child rapists told us trans women are a threat to kids.

And too many people who should know better just went right along.

If you take down a memorial to a slaver who made war on the United States, that is a disrespectful attempt to erase history.

If you take down a memorial to Black soldiers who fought for the United States, that is making America great again.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

Our National Director, Jonathan Jacoby, is deeply concerned by the divisive and hyperbolic response from some corners of the American Jewish community to the election of Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani.

Things I hope Sefaria incorporates in the coming years:

1. Overlays breaking down which lines are of J, E, D, and P authorship

2. Audio companions so you can hear how the text is chanted in assorted tropes

Glad to see more people noting that, whatever divisions there may be on Palestine-Israel, the tradition of "sewer socialism" which Mamdani represents is actually a deeply Jewish tradition. forward.com/culture/7816...

The ADL is terrified that the Mamdani administration will continue to demonstrate that a genuine, tangible commitment to the well-being of Jews in America can coexist alongside staunch opposition to the policies of a country on the other side of the planet. It hurts their bottom line

“Did you vote the way Kathy Hochul, Tish James, and Jerry Nadler said to vote, or the way Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, and Elon Musk said to vote?” should not be a difficult question for a Democratic Senator from New York to answer.

This would be a fine message from someone who is not the national leader of one of the political parties.
Q: It's election day in NYC. Did you vote for Mamdani or Cuomo?

Schumer: "Look, I voted, and I look forward to working with the next mayor to help NYC."

The political reign of those who grew up in the red circle isn’t long for this world.

Byron Brown: done in politics.
Eric Adams: done in politics.
Andrew Cuomo: done in politics.

After tomorrow, there’s just the big one left.

They want us to believe he’ll be in the White House forever.

Nope.

Dreadful loss.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Perhaps interesting to note that previously Podhoretz took a much more permissive attitude toward flagrant antisemitism on the right.
