So much kayfabe. So so much. And even I, as cynical as I am about Trump, have caught myself thinking: maybe it's real this time. Maybe Trump has finally realized Putin needs him more than he needs Putin. But no...so much kayfabe.

A few years after that, I read EXCELLENT CADAVERS, an incredible book about the Mafia in Sicily, and I realized that's humanity's fundamental choice: build a system and keep trying to improve it, OR create a culture where everyone can take the law into their own hands. There's no third option.

I haven't experienced that quite on that level, but having been the victim of a violent crime (in Canada, of all places) and seeing how great a functioning and fair criminal justice system can be, I'm very very very grateful for it.

My son's middle name is Ignatius because I figured we'd call him Iggy as a tribute to Iggy Pop. (Who, granted, is actually James.) But he looks like a Vinnie (which is his first name) so that plan fell by the wayside.
