This goes against everything I have heard about #indiegamedev marketing like: socials don't convert to sales, only game devs watch and it's easier to 'borrow' another persons audience than to build one. Building your own gets you much more value in the long run so I seems like doing both is ideal.

I got 41k views on my first long form video and 164k total views on my short form videos and I am so grateful for all the support I gathered in only a few months! Which is so amazing so it may not be replicable but who knows.

I really wanted to get some more eyes on my game because it is a passion project I spent years on. So I created shorts, tiktoks, reels and long forms YouTube videos on Koboo's development. It only took a month of work until the content really started to do well!

My game Koboo took a month longer than planned to release so I only emailed streamers a few days before launch which was a huge mistake! It lead to only very small creators playing my game which was great but lead to no extra sales sadly 🥲

I would say no one knows how to make YOUR game you have to take that journey on your own. At some point you can ask for help but there are no shortcuts.
