This is YouTube's latest & it's an accessibility crime. The contrast ratio is 2:1 which is just should be a non-starter. Some clever person on the youtube team though that putting a tiny little shadow on the text would fix it but even then the contrast comes in at 3:1.

It took me "56 nights" but I finally beat Chronos last night in #Hades2 (I took a 2 week break for a trip) I feel pretty badass right now...

... even though it too me FAR longer than most to do this

My *wife* just got an offer to purchase *me*. I'd like to think I'm pretty progressive on nearly every social issue, but this is just a bit too far....

yes, yes, I know this is some type of scam/phishing ploy but a) it's pretty funny and b) it's just so incredibly bizarre.

Another simple #UX design foiled by poor execution. The "go" button fails to register a firm press, you must only lightly "tap" the button for it to work. My wife was completely confused and couldn't figure out why the kettle wasn't working.

The original Mac had a screen that was roughly the same size as a modern iPad Mini. So many fundamental desktop #UX features, like overlapping windows and a global menu bar, make so much more sense given that constraint.

How would they change now that we have MUCH larger displays?

So enjoying #Hades2. I don't even like twitchy fighting games all that much but this one has an amazing story and gameplay.

I just beat the first boss and felt that "dark souls rush" at finally doing it after 10 tries. Maybe that's it, it's kind of like Dark Souls but for more casual gamers...

Completely agree so I just cleaned it up, color shifted it, and did a 4x resolution expansion (with some processing) so it could be printed. Please feel free to use.

This is the third and last in my series on UX and LLMs. It was the hardest to write as I (rather foolishly) take a stand on where we should go.

I see this type of #UX mistake often. Using a control in the wrong location requires a complex sign to 'fix it'.

First image has the button effectively *behind* you vs the normal placement of having it *next* to you. This one layout difference makes the signage so much simpler and intuitive.

#UX Designers!

I've always wanted a clean and easy-to-explain example of how a product simplified their UX. The closest thing I can think of is way back when Photoshop 4 moved from a flat tool pallet.

But I expect there are even better examples?

This is part 2 in my LLM series: The Timmy Trap. We perceive LLMs as intelligent when they aren't. Our brains have been hacked.

Here is a video of how janky this is:
* First LONGPRESS fails, I have to retry
* I input the time
* I click "OK" but that fails
* I click "POWER LEVEL" which works
* and It asks me to press OK!

This could be so much simpler...

Yet another microwave #UX example. How would you set the time? Once you find "the in" how would you then input the new time?

Narrator: it wasn't pretty....

This appears to be a new scam to reveal your password. Not sure how it would actually work as GMail handles all of the interactions? Am I being paranoid?

Well, that's a bummer. Curious what other people use for saving "links to be read later". There are some clear options, just curious what people like. If there happens to be open source version, all the better.

I'm giving a talk and I need an image of a confused person. My instinct was to use "Sudden Clarity Clarence" but I'm guessing that's a BIT too dated.

Any more modern suggestions? Or should I just use it and not worry?

I'm *really* trying to use #LLMs in my work. But the hype is exhausting and stopping real projects from getting traction.

If you ask Google to define any random phrase (as long as it's fairly reasonable) it will just make something up. Here is my example of "define: there is a marshmallow in every salad"

New #UX models have friction.

The Mach E has a push button door: push the button first, pop the door. It works once "you've read the manual"

Two problems:
1. As I approached the car at Avis it was dark, I couldn't see the button at all so couldn't get it, I had to ask someone to let me in.

As it's a lazy afternoon, I was just reflecting on *my* Doctor (Tom Baker) and I had a vague notion that he was the most prolific, doing the most episodes. I little websearching proved me right.

I've created "GIST Checklist" as way to make smaller product changes. It's just a list of the things experienced #UX designers already do. The point is to be more transparent and collaborative with the product team so they understand the "gist" of the problem at hand.

With Android releasing one of my haptics designs recently, I can finally talk more about how powerful "responsive haptics" can be as a #UX design material. I've written up how it works on my blog: jenson.org/haptics

I'm currently staying in an AirBnB with one of these beasts.
I tried to "adjust it' and was met with these instructions. This COULD have been a lovely product instead of being an absolute nightmare.

What's sad is that it would be so easy to make this much easier to use. #UX
