Yep, sounds completely plausible, there really can be no other compelling reason for such harmful lunacy built on blatant lies.

Who does this bizarre incorrect claim actually benefit? Like, why push it so hard? Is it to bring down pharmaceutical companies? Or is it just to appeal to conspiracy theorists?
