Having spent the past couple days recording the English audio guide for the Xi Xi Space, I have a newfound respect for voice actors & people who record audiobooks.

My shortcomings as a voice actor aside, I’m very excited that the Space will open next month & that I can be there for its launch ✨

Hopology HK希望學 is publishing a series of children's picture books based on Xi Xi's 西西 poetry. First in the series is 《可不可以說》𝘾𝙖𝙣 𝙒𝙚 𝙎𝙖𝙮, based on one of Xi Xi's most beloved poems, and illustrated by 廖倍恩 Joanne Liu of All Things Bright & Beautiful.

The wonton noodles are a nod to her childhood nickname growing up in a Cantonese family in Shanghai & the chili pepper a tribute to her beloved character 麥快樂 in 𝑀𝑦 𝐶𝑖𝑡𝑦 who gifts dried chilies to his friends to dispel sadness and ward off vampires. We also wore 🌶️ bracelets made the previous night.

Spent the morning paying respects to Xi Xi at Diamond Hill Garden of Remembrance with my Xi Xi family. We spruced up her plaque (which lists her incorrect birth year, which should be 1937) & added new toys, including a bowl of wonton noodles and a chili charm.

Ordered this miniature bowl of wonton noodles to bring to Xi Xi’s memorial site at Diamond Hill Garden of Remembrance next month. Her childhood nickname in Shanghai was “Wonton Noodles” because of her Cantonese background 🍜

This passage I just translated from Xi X's 𝑀𝑦 𝐶𝑖𝑡𝑦 feels timely. See below, in my very rough, in-progress translation, along w/ Xi Xi's accompanying drawing of the bottom of a 👟 from the p.o.v. of a soccer ball about to be kicked.
(Note: "football" = soccer; this is for a UK press)
