NEW: @kff.org poll on the Trump administration's dismantling of USAID and cutting foreign aid. Majority say it will lead to more humanitarian and health crises (less than half say it will alleviate domestic fiscal issues).

As part of this submission, the plaintiffs also provided a USAID Contracting & Foreign Service Officer's declaration. She provides evidence that the govt did not review the grants/contracts they canceled (as they had said) & documents significant effects on health outcomes.

Yes, #PEPFAR has been granted a limited waiver to resume some services, but there are still reports that $$ is not flowing & services have not resumed. Even the US Embassy in South Africa acknowledges this (from Feb 10, 2025). za.usembassy.gov/presidents-e...

This story of the impact of the #foreignaidfreeze on clinical trials, but more importantly, the people in the trials, stopped me in my tracks. A woman had to remove her pregnancy prevention device because the trial was ordered to stop!!!!! Whaaat? (link below).

USAID's foreignassistance.gov website - a resource that offers detailed data on USG $$ by country and progam (going back more than a decade) is down. Needless to say, this is a critical resource to those of us working in this space.

Foreign aid pause update: While many wait to see if PEPFAR will receive a "life-saving humanitarian assistance" waiver, interesting to note that one area explicitly excluded from waivers is family planning (e.g., antenatal/postnatal care, contraception...)

Federal datasets are coming down....here's the page for all of PEPFAR's data. This is because of the foreign assistance stop-work order.

More new @kff.org poll tidbits: Few say cutting funding to schools that require students to get vaccinated (15%) or encouraging communities not to add fluoride to their water supply (23%), incoming Trump administration-associated policies, should be high priorities.

Interesting poll tidbit: despite the "backlash" against public health & pandemic "fatigue" in the wake of COVID, our new @kff.org poll finds that the majority of Americans say the government is NOT spending enough on "prevention of infectious diseases and preparing for future pandemics" (54%).
