Senior software developer for nearly 40 years. RPG, board game, video game player. Janeway is my captain. Andor is the best SW. Steampunk is my jam. Making is my joy. Current addiction: Silksong!
This would make Miller a cut rate Bene Gesserit Mother? That tracks. Except for the sex stuff from the books (shudder).

A fresh loaf of sourdough, thick cut, air fried so it’s lightly crispy and brown all over, cultured butter. Nothing better.

They’re redefining “terrorism” as “speaking out against this administration”.

It must be hard to have this strong of an opinion when the best SW in the last decade is Rogue One, Andor and The Mandalorian.

Even with force users the best SW is always space cowboys or WWII war films.

When you’re so deep in the closet you can’t admit it to yourself, EVERYTHING (but you) is gay.

I recently replayed this on my PS3 and it still holds up pretty well. They did the Jax & Daxter thing where they went dark and moody with the sequel and, like J&D, it was jarring and unappealing, at least to me.

The only story I was annoyed Disney erased was Kyle Katarn from the Dark Forces games, but Andor and Rogue One are so good I can’t be mad about it.

I cobbled this phrasing together over the years, inspired by observation and decades of roleplaying games that try to parse the difference between wisdom and intelligence. I can’t claim it’s an original thought because that seems unlikely, but this phrasing is my own to the best of my knowledge.

Agreed. I was sixteen when it came out and all the criticisms (disjointed, slow, stilted dialogue, no character development, another Death Star) did nothing to diminish scenes like the Sarlacc pit, the Death Star battle (It’s a trap!), the speeder chase, Darth’s end.

Killing non combatant civilians without trial is, in fact, illegal. The legal way of dealing with suspected drug traffickers is to have the Coast Guard board them and search for drugs and arrest them for trial if any are found.

Oh yeah, stuff’s going to break regardless, that’s where not getting a big ego comes from. But there’s a big difference between “it broke because I missed something” and “it broke because I did no testing”.

Good engineers test their shit. The first time you’re in a Root Cause Analysis meeting with two layers of management and someone from Finance you learn the value of testing. But doing this while moving fast is a balancing act.

Passive resistance from engineers I suspect. They knew what this feature would reveal and released it anyway. Now they CYB as management asks pointed questions. “No, we didn’t run any tests against MAGA accounts, we had no idea this would happen!” As they delete all their test results data.
November 23, 2025 at 7:48 PM
You know the engineers who worked on this feature knew what they were doing. If *I* had worked on it I would have already made my own heat maps of major accounts just out of curiosity and to test that it worked. They knew what would be revealed and did it anyway, passive resistance ftw.

Knowledge is what you get by studying. Intelligence is how well you use your knowledge. Wisdom is what you earn by screwing up with the first two.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s important to know your self worth, understand what you know. But it’s just as important to own your mistakes and learn from them, and know what you DON’T know.

I know, he was a coder originally, he knew what he was saying. He was giving permission to his engineers to take risks without fear. That’s what entrepreneurs do, take big swings. But investors want to minimize risk so the “break things” part got cut for the VCs. Or shareholders as the case may be.
