While not a blocking pattern (not yet, maybe), the water vapor pattern over the southwest US today has resembled the Greek letter tau very well! I've not seen such a look before.

200 kts is above the EF-5 threshold for tornadoes. Granted, those winds are above the surface and probably will not impact anything.
