Retired artist, old school BSI. I prefer dead authors: Somerset Maugham, Hemingway, Conan Doyle, Ray Bradbury, Thomas Wolfe, T.S. Eliot …. but my reading lamp is dimming.
It’s GREAT to know passionate readers still exist.

Of course one can always read Dickens for pleasure, as some of us have done on occasion. He beats many contemporaries, for my money, but I’m a curmudgeon!

It’s happening here now.

Paget is classic, but Steele’s technique is a standout for me. Congrats on your purchase.

Love that cover illustration -- Steele?

This is an ideal terror tale. For more, see The Gothic Tales of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Ok, thanks. We still haven’t snow in our forecast … yet.

May I ask your location? I live in south central PA and we're getting violently pelted with wind & rain this morning, which isn't bad background music for watching episodes of the Granada series.

I haven't read much King, but I found this book exceptional.

Certainly among my top three -- maybe top two -- maybe top .... It's hard to judge, it's so good, from the first description of the dust on the leaves ...
