Specifically on here to talk about and give thoughts on #F1. Fan for over 25 years. Neutral on drivers and teams.
Average Qualifying gap for the top 4 so far in 2025.

Based over 8 qualifying sessions (includes sprints Q).

McLaren clearly ahead. Red Bull & Mercedes tight. Ferrari lagging.

Worryingly for the other 3, comparably, McLaren probably have a bigger advantage in race pace!

A fun slightly odd Lance Stroll stat….

The ONLY driver on the grid that has finished either where he qualified or above in every race (Main Grand Prix + sprints) so far this season…

Has lost 0 positions.

If you’re a Lando Norris fan & looking for some positives…

He is the only driver this year in the top 4 teams to either maintain or better his qualifying position in the main Grand Prix every weekend….

His never finished behind where he started. (Not incl sprints)

Here’s a very positive stat for Oscar Piastri & his championship hopes…

In the history of F1, there has been 27 occasions where a driver has won 4 or more of the first 6 Grand Prix in a season…

26 of these drivers went onto win the drivers title that year. (96.3%)

Fun F1 Qualifying stat!

If you average all teams quickest lap from each qualifying:

Red Bull are 2nd fastest

If you only use 2nd drivers fastest lap:

Ferrari are 2nd fastest

If you get the average from both drivers:

Mercedes are 2nd fastest

McLaren fastest in all!

The Haas qualifying battle in 2025 has been slightly odd!

It has a consistent trend where one of the drivers will have a comparatively poor Q1 compared to the other.

Despite relatively good points so far, Haas has a 100% record of having at least one car eliminated in Q1.

The qualifying battle at Williams is starting to really heat up following Sainz finishing ahead of Albon in the last 2 weekends.

Same highest placed achieved, same lowest place achieved, Albon edging the average and around a tenth on Carlos so far.

Intriguing battle.

Fernando Alonso - Lance Stroll qualifying battle so far.

Alonso has a sizeable advantage but this is mainly due to very poor sessions for Stroll in Japan/Bahrain. 4 times they’ve qualified within a hundredth.

Alonso has consistently qualified between 11th-13th in all 6 events.

George Russell continues to show his prowess in qualifying & why his considered one of the best over one lap.

Kimi Antonelli now has the unwanted record of being the only driver on the grid not to out qualify his teammate once this season.

Still young, still learning though.

When it comes to the Max Verstappen - Yuki Tsunoda qualifying battle so far, expectedly there’s only one winner.

Max completely dominant & maximising the machinery.

Interestingly, Yuki has yet to score his fastest qualifying time in the final session at any track.

Ferrari have the only drivers to set competitive laps in all quali segments in 2025!

Leclerc holds an advantage over Hamilton with a representative gap of 2 tenths. In part due to his ability to extract more in Q3!

Lewis’ best weekend was a sprint weekend which we have next!

A worrying occurrence in the qualifying battle between Norris & Piastri for Lando.

Norris has been faster in 12 of the 18 qualifying segments (Q1, Q2, Q3) in 2025 so far.

However of the 6 Piastri has won, 4 of them have been in the most important Q3.

Aston Martin Qualifying H2H data in 2025! (Australia to Bahrain)

- Given points, expected to be closer but Fernando Alonso still supreme.
