The thing I am most looking forward to about the Winter Olympics is the Norwegian curling team's pants. I hope they don't disappoint. The world really needs some crazy pants right now.

You know you're back in NZ when your grocery bill makes you want to cry. But: helloooo stonefruit season! I've missed you, especially now that citrus fruit is off the menu because it's all American, and apples have ceased to exist.

My husband has set the Waze satnav voice to a dog that pants and woofs at the end of every instruction, and I'm just done. Enough is enough. Humans need to relinquish planetary control to a more intelligent species. Maybe dung beetles.

So Bluesky has a setting to hide rude posts from your feed - as if that's not what we're really all here for - but not one to hide posts about massive f'ing spiders? Can I bill them next time I fling my phone across the room and break it?

That was a decent earthquake near Wellington. Glad my phone told me I "might have felt shaking". Really? I never would have guessed from the earth-deep rumble and the walls creaking. That was a long one.

I'm disgusted that my country no longer has the ability to stand up for what is right.

And I'm disgusted that New Zealanders were kept in the dark until now about what position this appalling government chose to take on our behalf on the issue of Palestinian statehood.

I'm furious and ashamed.

So the guy who wants the Nobel Peace Prize and claims to end wars wants to call the DoD the War Department?

Mmmkay.

Seriously? He skipped a call with global leaders about Ukraine because he didn't want to get up at 1am? What is the point of him?

If he fell asleep in parliament I'm not sure anyone would notice anyway.

You know how we wouldn't deal with those possums? By systematically starving them and bombing their homes and hospitals. We would see that as appalling, indefensible animal cruelty.

An Israeli minister said New Zealand’s biggest threat was “a possum”, while Israel faced “a jihadist death cult”.

My thoughts on the 15% tariffs on NZ: Trump's brain is like a lotto ball tumbler. The number will change depending on what falls out of his mouth on any given day. Trying to make a fair deal with him would be like opening an umbrella in a Wellington northerly: a failure you should have anticipated.

I dithered over this headline for a good 3 seconds before I decided I had to know what was so traumatic about it, and what the hell fart spray is.

Well, I was not disappointed. If you want to laugh-snort the words "what?!" and "why!?" repeatedly, this is the article for you.
Australian man jailed over ‘traumatic’ Bunnings fart spray prank
Paul Andrew Hart, 52, admitted to taking the chilli spray to the Northam Bunnings store when he attended with a friend and his son on the Anzac Day public holiday last year.

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

One of my favourite movies ever. I still quote it all the time. If I hear the words Marvin the Martian or Pismo Beach, I immediately think of Clueless. Does knowing it's 30 years old make me feel ancient? As if!
