I served a career in the military. I know the difference between lawful and unlawful orders. Unless there is proof of wrongdoing, I'm not going to blame her. Blame falls on Trump and the WV governor.

I know the oath of enlistment and of a commissioned officer. A Col has A LOT more discretion in executing orders. A Specialist does not. There is a world of difference between the ranks.

If someone got a bonus or educational benefits for joining, they would have to pay it back. Not sure of the payment terms, but it will get paid back. Claiming conscientious objector is false enlistment.

Additionally, anyone who wears our nation's cloth knows they are duty bound to disobey an illegal order. The question is, what constitutes illegal? If she were ordered to shoot an innocent, that's clearly illegal. The order is to "protect federal property." Not illegal, but also not necessary.

Although I agree with your sentiment, I disagree with your characterization of the NG troops. None of them can simply refuse to go. When activated, they can't select their mission. She was an E-4. Refusing to go or "missing a movement" is a court-martial offense.
