I wish. My kids did paper and pencil for ages, but also I would kick their skinny asses if I found out they were using Google to avoid learning. It's worse than not completing homework bc it's lying.

I'm just a volunteer tho and every kid in the district is constantly on their Chromebook 🙄

I'm just a volunteer but Google makes it so hard to know where kids are struggling, tbh I thought your kid was really smart before I realized that they're good at deception, not math

Some kids need more activity. It's called attention deficit HYPERACTIVITY for a reason.

Give them the activity. Teach these children whose beautiful minds operate with such creative flexibility that a key to unlocking that creativity can be the exercise that allows their bodies to feel relief.

It's not great that my kid has to wake up early to run, but I refuse to subject teachers to yet another child who can't behave at school (even with medicine). And once my child figured out how much better he felt after a run, he started insisting on it

I wish recess were long enough for another run

This lesson — that nearly everyone acts in a self-interested manner and would gladly sacrifice a best friend if it helped them or their children — is useful. It impels me to act in manners that increase the odds of people not having to make these choices.

Because I know the choices that they'd make

If you think the lesson of the Shoah is "don't commit a world-ending wrong," I doubt your family experienced the wrong

The sole lesson is that the people on whom a family relies are not, in fact, particularly reliable. Most will act in their own interest, and against yours, when push comes to shove

People can bemoan the return of standardized tests in college admissions all they want, but until high schools start handing out grades that actually reflect extent of mastery of material (or lack thereof), I don't see another way for higher education institutions to assess content knowledge

Also, so glad you added this helpful information because The Internets are not the personal domain of anyone in particular and I'm certain many folks will benefit from reading about your experience 💜
