It's got a lot of good features, but I've really struggled to find either of the two IBKR mobile apps intuitive at all. It's been a few years since I traded actively tho due to the day job. Can't bother with the desktop - now I'm a "retired" trader putting in maybe a dozen or two trades a year.

What's the best alternative?

Great job. Makes me want to pick up the piano

I'm nostalgic for the days I'd go browse the rental options. It made it more of an event. Feels like the easy accessibility cheapens it.

But it's hard to split out that nostalgia from the general nostalgia of youth, when the world was more full of mysteries to be experienced.

We can imagine a world where we have $200 in capital chasing $100 in economic return. In such a world capital competes to lose less. In a world of demographic decline it's not impossible. The rise of crypto while people bemoan high valuations in stocks suggests there is excess capital.

I do agree that if the external inflow is maintained and there aren't treasuries being issued, if could result in a wasteful bubble.

That said, in the real world the external inflow declines. Also maybe a bubble is inevitable - there is certain capital chasing a fixed number of opportunities.

I'm not sure how external inflow could drive the private sector into deficit. Some equation I'm forgetting.

Holding all else equal, if the government reduced its deficit by higher taxes, then someone is going to pay those taxes, so I can see how that reduces income.

"But if the government cut its deficit, while the external inflow continued, the outcome could be to drive the private sector into deficit, either via a slump in its income or a surge in its spending. The former means a recession. The latter means asset price bubbles"

Could use more unpacking

These types of articles need to start by pointing to some sort of remedial macroeconomics textbook 😅 - it's been about 15 years since I got my econ degree

To a lesser degree than llms, self-driving cars can reach a point at which they're good enough. The difference between errors 0.00001 of the time and 0.0000001 of the time may not move the needle commercially.

Waymo seems to be good enough for many areas, unlike Tesla at this point.

We need shareable block and mute lists. I understand that's got it's own disadvantages but ultimately I think it's worth it

That's not the only solution. Approval voting would also solve the problem - and doesn't even need ranking.

Ranked-choice voting is viewed with suspicion among some voters, so something simpler could work. Easy to implement.

I just unfollow and if necessary mute the more noisy political accounts

Also I'll admittedly pop into Twitter sometimes, but keep engagement minimal to avoid feeding it

The code is open source, could try to track it down. Chatpgt probably has all of that code inside it too so could try asking why github.com/bluesky-soci...
