The thing about living in a tropical climate is the days are unbearable but the mornings and evenings are incomparable.

This is why my life in India is sad when it comes to wine. A$10 bottle of wine being sold at $100 equivalent.

And now for a hopefully less emotionally draining selection: a Mammootty hit from the early 90s.

Today's evergreen hit, a Mammootty starrer and deeply felt family melodrama. Cried pretty much non-stop for the last hour.

Just watched Kireedam for the first time. What a devastating movie - a tragedy in the most classical sense. Mohanlal was just so good in his prime.

I'm working my way through a list of old Malayalam films given to me by my Mallu partner and his friends. First up was Paadheyam, a wonderful melodrama. I relish how morally complex a lot of classic Malayalam films are.

Sometimes I take an autorickshaw to work when I can't be bothered with the Bangalore traffic. It's as fun as it looks (lots). These small things remind me how lucky I am to live in India.

Plenty of spare seats in this screening of Anatomy of a Fall here in Bengaluru.

So excited to be back at IFFK. Great programming and the best damned audiences. ❤️

I just moved house and OMG there's a genuine, non-hipster, video (well, DVD) shop around the corner. Thousands of titles, mostly Indian regional movies, often without subs (sad), tended by an owner who parks his vintage gold Bajaj scooter inside the tiny shop. I just bought up big.
