I consider a creative project a success if I break even, which has occurred for pretty much every major project I've completed. But I'm definitely not making much profit doing any of it.

I've been creative my entire life, bouncing from drawing to writing short stories to writing music to writing non-fiction, and I've always viewed these as "off-clock" pursuits. Unfortunately, it's not lucrative for most anyone to make a living from the arts.
