Saed is here asking for help! Anything you can spare will help feed and/or provide warmth for those that have nothing.
My friends and loved ones...
I'm Saeed from Gaza, still doing my best to support my family. This week, we need food for our children, medicine for my parents, and basic supplies costing around €300. Any support, no matter how big or small, means life to us all.

I made a list of places you can shop to avoid supporting fascist billionaires
So where should I shop?
Note: I will occasionally update this list, so make sure to check back from time to time. So you're boycotting the companies kowtowing to fascism. Awesome! Unfortunately, the list of places to avoid ...

feel like crying all the time, the depression is destroying me, and I can’t help my family get back up. No matter what I do, the feeling never leaves. I can barely breathe and my mind keeps trying to deny reality. What can I do to stay sane?

Today there was an attempted ICE raid in Bensonhurst & community members showed up. Even though NYPD collaborated with ICE by trying to disburse the crowd; community members stood their ground & ICE left without kidnapping a single person per the rapid response groups I'm on. We protect us!

Everyone… I just need to rent a place to replace our tent. My family has fallen very sick because of it, Don’t forget us even with the ceasefire it’s an illusion to divert attention from us. Our suffering has worsened, the situation is extremely dire and I’ve lost everything except my trust in you.
My dearest friend set up the weekly and monthly donation options so that we can stay alive after a tent was destroyed just 100 meters away from us last night. The sand covered our faces while we were still alive.

I’m deeply depressed and can’t keep begging one by one for help anymore.

American electoral politics is just a giant trolley problem and I hate it
I appreciate the legal reporters explaining the likely reasoning behind the SNAP ruling but also rube goldberg-ing our way to maybe possibly giving food to hungry kids is pretty damning in itself

Make art that you think is fuckin sick as hell. Make the shit you never thought you could that you always wanted to see. Beat your insecurity to death and fight to become your own favorite artist.

HOARD KNOWLEDGE
As a government information librarian who archives a lot of federal web pages, I strongly recommend this approach. The Internet Archive and similar tools are great, but, as mentioned here, are imperfect tools and there is just too much uncertainty about continued access to federal resources.
This moment is disturbing even in the mundane: I’ve started taking screenshots of historical sources I’m using in research from the national park service, the smithsonian, and the national archives, just in case they get taken down. It’s now a part of my process and takes time I have to plan for.

One more thread for suggested reading (before I post the next one):
I've written a lot about disordered discourse and counterpublics, but given recent events I want to cover a key part of disordered discourse, which I call the four pillars of disordered doubt.

I love it when a piece of art makes big swings, even if it misses. An ambitious film with too much to say, a book that overreaches with its tone, a poem that’s a little too self-indulgent. Even if it’s not personally my thing, it means the artist took a risk and cared, and that’s worth celebrating.
