Hot off the press! Episode 148: Psychodynamic Theory and Human Development: Interview with @loyolachicago.bsky.social's Dr. Terry Northcut. This episode offers profound insights into how psychodynamic theories explain why we are the way we are.

I don't do the Social Work Podcast for props, but every once in a while I get a review that makes my day. Thank you to the unknown reviewer for your very kind words.

In my #NASW2025 poll, the most-used word when social workers think about social media was...
👉 “Bias.”

Also high on the list: Privacy. Risk. Advocacy. Cyberbully.

Social workers are not ambivalent. We’re careful.

What would help you feel more confident showing up online as a social worker?

At #NASW2025, social workers said they rarely use social media professionally (1.9/10)… but rated their frustration with influencers misusing “trauma” & “narcissist” a 7.2/10.

We’re watching. We’re cringing. Maybe it’s time we started posting. @naswsocialworkers.bsky.social

The Trump White House released a horrific and dystopian FY2026 budgetary request. They are proposing cutting $1B from SAMHSA, $3.5B from CDC, $1.7B from HRSA, which will gut harm reduction efforts, funding for mobile crisis grants, family planning, HIV prevention.
