It’s gorgeous outside this evening! I chopped some wood a bit ago and built a fire. I can’t see my neighbors, but I can hear them. My neighbors to the east followed with fire shortly thereafter. My neighbors to the west are now building their backyard fire.

1-Month Update:
Hooray! There has been slow but definite progress over the past month. I would like to report that it seems as if Atigun has regained most, if not all of his hearing! He's now hearing a full range of sounds and tones at various volumes. I am so relieved and so grateful. 🐾💕🐾

1-Month Update:
Hooray! There has been slow but definite progress over the past month. I would like to report that it seems as if Atigun has regained most, if not all of his hearing! He's now hearing a full range of sounds and tones at various volumes. I am so relieved and so grateful. 🐾💕🐾

I started giving up on the idea of things. Time is ticking. I began overthinking about how challenging this is going to be (if it happens). Then I saw this and was reminded of how costly it could be for me (in so many ways) if I don’t at least try to go for it.

I'm finally able to wake him from a deep sleep with just my voice. It takes a couple of times, but I'm thrilled and that's perfectly okay with me! He's tuning in more and more to where the sound or my voice is coming from. 🐾❤️🐾

If I wait until he’s almost asleep and it’s quiet inside, he perks up to the sound of a squeaker and me whistling, but he doesn’t know where it’s coming from. He may just now be starting to hear those sounds again, so he may not be quite sure of them just yet.

He’s getting there! There are still sounds/tones he isn’t hearing and it some of it seems random. He also hears sounds, but can’t determine where they are coming from. This morning I was able to get him to perk up his ears with a squeaker toy and my whistle.

I'm no longer yelling, but speaking firmly & loudly. It is on/off again & taking 2-3 times on average, but Atigun is reacting & responding to my voice when I speak loudly. I think at this point he's hearing mostly sounds, but he has responded to specific commands. Yay! 🤞🏼🐾

Thank you for continuing to send all of your good thoughts his way. He would also like to shamelessly solicit some ear massages, some chin scritches, and lots of loves too. I am holding onto hope for my sweetest boy to be able to hear again.

I *think* he is starting to hear my voice when I yell "Atigun" or when I yell "HEY". I *think I got a response from him when I yelled as loudly as I could from about 15 feet away when he wasn't looking. I'm fairly sure I got a response when I yelled from about 4 feet behind him.
