A digital comic, done in a paintery style, about razorbill and great auk. First page shows a rock pillar in the sea with razorbills on it. Some of them are flying above. It's storming, the sky is filled with heavy clouds, the water is black. The text says: "The wind carries your last cry away. You are gone. But under the cold and deafeningly loud sea waves, you and I look... alike." Second page of the comic, the camera dives into the pitch black cold water of the sea - along with a razorbill that is shown here diving to catch fish. The sun is still reaching it's body, and we can see bright reflection of water surface on it's feathers. Small fish are swimming near the bird. Text says: " The rays of the sun on my body are a reflexion of your life." 3rd page is connected to previous one. We dive deeper. We see a school of fish on the background, and two little panels with razorbills. One of them is a portrait of a bird with an open mouth, showing their beak in details, the other one is a razorbill flying among the stormy clouds. Text: "My beak is a glimpse of your ghost. My feathers hold memories of you" Diving even deeper, on 4th page we go into a black space. Some fish can be seen on top - just a connection to the previous page (i made them so they could work nicely in a line). There are two razorbills looking at their egg. Text: "My last young is a reminder of yours who never had a chance to see the sun" Context where this page already connects to the story of great auks: Native to the Arctic and sub-Arctic region and once numbering millions of individuals, Great auks became extinct mid-19th century. The last breeding pair, found incubating an egg, was killed on 3 June 1844, on request from a merchant who wanted specimens, with Jón Brandsson and Sigurður Ísleifsson strangling the adults and Ketill Ketilsson smashing the egg with his boot. The last individual was seen in 1852, leaving no hope that the species might be extant.
