Take a few mins to hear from some of the young people I talked to about why they signed up to run for office, their struggles, their belief in making things better.

“Good ideas are still possible & can still be listened to instead of all this inflammatory bullshit."

Last Tuesday's elections spurred even more people to sign up with Run for Something.

In the week after Dems swept at the polls, 5,000 more people signed up to run for office.

Notably, nearly 1,200 of them signed up within 24 hours of Senate Dems caving in the govt shutdown fight. 👀

Fascinating to see when Run for Something saw it's biggest spikes in people signing up to run for office in the past year:

Amanda Litman, Run for Something's exec director, says there’s been a different energy this year driving young people to consider bids for office.

“You’re hearing people pretty explicitly saying, ‘I’m not waiting my turn,’” she said. “‘I didn’t want to run for office. But I feel like I have to.’”

The group had a very good night in Tuesday's elections.

It was backing 222 candidates in general elections. Of the 193 of those races that have been called, 129 of its candidates won in state and local races across 23 states.

They include 36 candidates who flipped GOP-held seats to Democrats.

Run For Something backs candidates under 40, who are generally left-of-center Dems + who align with its stated values, things like abortion rights, LGBTQ+ equality, climate protections.

Beyond that, it leaves it up to each candidate to decide how to reflect those values in their campaigns.

In the past year, 75,000 people have signed up to run for local or state office through Run for Something, a grassroots political group that recruits young progressives.

For context: 67,000 people signed up with the group in Trump’s first term ― over the *entirety* of those four years.

Update: The White House has weighed in on the giant statue of Trump skipping and holding hands with Jeffrey Epstein:

“TDS Liberals think of endless ways to light their money on fire."

That's it.
