(4/5) Today, I took some time to reflect without music, without content, without visual amusement, to feel this void, if only for a moment, while we face similar hurdles with the US govt. pulling funding for HIV/AIDS research. This runs the risk of the cure being out of reach for decades to come.

(3/5) Communities at this time were reacting to loss of life and absent government intervention to try and find a cure for a disease that was affecting not just queer and brown folk, but mothers, children, and people from around the world, creating this cancerous void for society at large.

(2/5) Song, dance, illustrations, sculptures, performance, literature, cinema - all of it exists as a reflection of who we are in a moment of time. Without it, there exists “a void of spirit” as described by Natl. Endowment of Arts Chairman Jane Alexander in 1993.
